My name is Jamie Locke, owner of Gone Native tube-stock and native seed.
I am a qualified horticulturalist from an Indigenous background.
My family are from the Ngarabal tribe on the Northern tablelands of N.S.W.
Our Horticulture & Nursery Experience
My horticulture experience began at the age of 16 as a greenkeeper apprentice on a golf course on the N.S.W south coast.
My wife and I then moved to the south of England where we worked on a watercress farm, propagating for a major salad company.
After returning home i worked as a nursery hand at a wholesale nursery who specialised in growing grevillea’s.
I was then employed by Saltair flora and fauna, an environmental company successful in securing funding for the Maria river wildlife project.
This project aimed to restore wildlife corridor’s, eradicate pest species in both flora and fauna and provided nesting boxes as habitat for native fauna. I had involvement in all aspects of this project but especially the horticultural componants.
My wife Amanda and I started Gone Native in 2010 and since then have become involved in many of our communities environmental projects(please refer to the, our experience, page on this website for more details)
