At maturity, it reaches 50 metres (160 ft) tall, though the largest specimens can exceed 80 metres (250 ft) tall. It is found on coastal areas and sub-coastal ranges, mainly on flat land and lower slopes, where it is the dominant tree of wet forests and on the margins of rainforests.
Grown mainly for timber. It is a great bird attracting as well as habitat tree. It is also on the secondary food species list for Koalas.
It is the fastest growing Eucalypt in Australia.
